LA GRAVE!!!

Happy to be back in France!  La Grave has been on the list for too long and now it is on.  This place does seem to stand up to the legend.   That is John Buzza smiling and me and the kid in the lens.  Have a look at this nice connection to Staffan’s blog for some sweet shots and updates.   http://staffanbjorklund.blogspot.com/

Take Lou Dawson’s backcountry safety test.

Here we see Daniel’s assessment of the conditions underway above Andermatt.  Check out this quick quiz from Lou Dawson’s wildsnow for a preseason backcountry check-up.   http://www.wildsnow.com/6094/backcountry-skiing-safety-tips/ Great things are already underway here in Telluride and we are looking forward to a stellar season.

Sun, Snow and Tartiflette! New Dates for Val d’ Isere.

Next April 7th is the new start date for our week in Val d’ Isere.  The experience promises to be an absolute highlight of the approaching season.  This is an ideal time to be in the Savoy region.  Spring in ‘Val’, splendid long days are spent using incredibly high lift systems, accessing terrain that is simply phenomenal!   After ski, the spirited locals celebrate the day and then cap it off with some of the best cuisine France has to offer.  The Alpenglow week in Val d’ Isere has it all.  With snow on the ground here in Telluride and fall surrounding us, it is time get psyched for skiing in the alps!  Call us for details.

Next Season’s trips are on!

We are bringing it all back home next winter.  The absolute source of winter skiing fun is the Arlberg region in western Austria.  It is only better these days with nearly 100 lifts fanning out in all directions around St. Anton.  Please join us for a blissful week of incredible skiing and winter ambiance!  Then the end of March brings us back to the Isere valley and the incomprable Val d’Isere.  An absolutely boundless area where the only the food rivals the skiing.  Big adventure awaits….

Summer in the Alps.

Here is Staffon headin” for the Summit of Tofana de Rozes, far above Cortina.  We spend most of the summer hiking around these great places but there are a few ski areas open all year.  Zermatt; http://www.ski-zermatt.com/summer-skiing.html and its sister valley, the Saastal with big summer ski above Saas Fee http://www.saas-fee.ch/en/aktivitaeten-sommer/summer-ski-snowboard are likely the best.  If you ride the Jungfraujoch train in Switzerlands Berner Oberland there is an opportunity to make a few turns as well. Also Austria has many glaciers featuring summer skiing. www.bergfex.com/oesterreich/gletscher/

We are sending the dates for next winter out in the next few days.  Stay tuned.

A link to the snow.

“How vast is that?” is the question Peter is asking Sarah standing on top of the 4000 foot powder drop to Langen.  The Bergfex is a pretty reliable link to conditions here and there, check it out. http://www.bergfex.com/oesterreich/
